EMEA Virtual Roundtable: Getting Real About Racism
July 14, 2020 10:00 am CEST — July 14, 2020 11:30 am CEST

We know that people across the world experience discrimination every day because of their skin colour, ethnicity, religion, culture, nationality. Racially motivated violence – both verbal and physical – is all too common and its impacts are devastating to individuals and communities.
More subtle forms of prejudice and exclusion are also pervasive in the workplace and affect people’s health, well-being and performance in a very real way according to Catalyst’s report Day-to-Day Experiences of Emotional Tax Among Women and Men of Color in the Workplace.
Making lasting and constructive change will require each of us to do hard work to counter the racism, bias, and unfair treatment that cause us to have very different experiences and opportunities. We need to have challenging and courageous conversations inside our organizations to understand each other’s experiences and perspectives.
We must also understand that this is not just about one biased statement or action —it is about a long history of laws, institutions, attitudes, and words that have systematically advantaged one group over others.
So where do we start? What can we do as individuals and organizations to educate ourselves, to step up as allies, to make a real difference?
Join Catalyst EMEA team and supporters for a virtual roundtable dialogue.
