Humana, Inc., began its executive coaching program, Women in Leadership, in 2006. Participants were selected based on potential to advance within the company. During the sessions, executive coaches equipped them with the resources necessary to enhance leadership skills—such as navigating complexity and approaching the business in innovative ways—and prepared them for executive roles. Participants developed a sense of who they are as Humana leaders and what they want for their careers at the company. Ten percent of Women in Leadership participants were promoted during or after the program.
