Catalyst to Host ‘Real Change with MARC: Reimagining Gender Equity’ on September 14–16, 2022–In Person Across the Globe and VirtuallyAugust 16, 2022
Three-day gender equity summit highlights role of men in advancing women in the workplace.
New York, New York, August 16, 2022 — The role of men in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has grown significantly in recent years. Yet many obstacles remain in reaching true gender equity in the workplace and beyond. That’s why Catalyst is hosting a three-day global and regional event on
September 14-16 to reimagine equity and shine a spotlight on how men, and people of all genders, can challenge and change the status quo through allyship and action.
Real Change with MARC: Reimagining Gender Equity addresses the workplace implications of traditional views of masculinity and inspires men to work in partnership to create collective culture change in workplaces around the world. The event will include more than 100 speakers and more than 60 sessions consisting of A-list keynote presentations, flash talks, spotlight conversations, group discussions, forums, and trainings from experts including Emmy-winning journalist and author Gaby Natale, actor and activist Terry Crews, author Peggy Orenstein, and psychologist and Emotional Agility author Susan David.
The event consists of two days of virtual programming and one day of in-person programming in four locations:
- San Ramon, California, USA – hosted by Chevron
- Panama City, Panama – hosted by P&G
- Zurich, Switzerland – hosted by Dow
- Singapore – hosted by Google (Sold Out)
Participants can purchase tickets to join virtually (on Days 1 and 2), in person (on Day 3), or both (all 3 days). The virtual and in-person sessions will unpack what real change means for gender equity and how it can be achieved through storytelling, best-practice sharing, and collective learning. Topics to be covered include redefining masculinity, tackling the stigma of men’s mental health in the workplace, and educating the next generation of boys about consent.
“Equity is not a women’s issue alone. True gender equity in the workplace takes all of us examining our biases, challenging stereotypes, and engaging in difficult conversations with empathy, self-reflection, and candor,” says Lorraine Hariton, Catalyst President and CEO. “Gender partnership—engaging men and people of all genders as allies—is the only way to make real change.”
“Allyship is critical to Google’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy,” said Maria Medrano, Senior Director, Diversity Strategy, Narrative and Partnerships, Google. “Everyone has a role to play in lifting up others and ensuring that Google is a place where everyone feels they belong. I am glad to have partnered with Catalyst to create spaces for our senior leaders to learn more about men’s role in advancing equity for women in the workplace through MARC. We are looking forward to continuing this learning journey across our global leadership teams at this year’s MARC Summit.” Google is the lead sponsor of Real Change with MARC: Reimagining Gender Equity.
