Research has shown a significant increase in anti-Asian hate crimes across Canada during the pandemic. According to Fight Covid Racism there have been over 1,000 reported incidents and climbing.
Anti-Asian racism is not new, however the pandemic has emboldened increased incidents of violence and harassment experienced by Asian Canadians. This session is a conversation to continue to shed light on those experiences. Our panel of leaders will discuss:
• mental health impacts of racism and emotional tax for Asian communities;
• what individuals and employers can do to build workplace inclusion.
We recognize May is Asian Heritage commemorative month (US and Can) and is usually an opportunity to highlight resiliency, leadership and the contributions made by Pan-Asian leaders globally. We hope by having this discussion we can continue to fulfill the purpose of Asian Heritage month by sharing stories and providing actionable steps that create a reimagined workplace where everyone can thrive.
