Emily Zuckerman leads Catalyst’s legal affairs, directing compliance, risk management, governance, and contract management functions for Catalyst’s US headquarters and its global affiliates.
She oversees the day-to-day operations of the Legal team and acts as senior business partner to leadership on operating and strategic issues, including efforts to establish entities in new global regions. Emily has also served on the Catalyst Award Evaluation Committee; Work-life Effectiveness Issue Specialty Team; and as a content creator for the edX MOOC, Inclusive Leadership Training: Effective Communication.
When she joined Catalyst in 2012, Emily brought 15 years of labor and employment, commercial, and corporate law experience and expertise teaching courses in legal and U.S. history. She earned a PhD in women’s, legal, labor, and modern U.S. history from Rutgers University, a JD cum laude from George Washington University, and a BA with honors in History from Northwestern University.
Outside of Catalyst, Emily serves as Board Secretary for RiverArts, a non-profit arts organization, as well as terms on the Consortium for Advancing Women Lawyers and the Work and Family Researchers Network’s (WFRN) Committee to Connect Research, Policy and Practice. Emily has written extensively on the history of social movements, civil rights policy, second-wave feminism, discrimination, and work-life balance. She presents to business and academic audiences such as the Association of Corporate Counsel’s NYC Women’s Group and the American Society for Legal History.
