Around the world: Most men support gender equity

Executive summary

In our report Most men support gender equity but face barriers to taking action we found that across nine countries, an overwhelming majority of men (97%) want to close gender gaps at work. But pressures to conform to harmful — yet pervasive — stereotypes about masculinity discourage them from taking action. As a consequence, men are less likely to be engaged in initiatives to make the workplace fairer — despite their personal support of creating a level playing field. These workplace barriers to men’s full participation in gender partnership hurt employees across genders as well as critical measures of organizational success, highlighting organizational responsibility to break down gender stereotypes that box men in so that gender equity can be achieved.
