Executive summary

Catalyst's MARC™ initiative drives mutual accountability for real change; inspiring leaders at all levels to leverage their unique opportunity and responsibility to be advocates for fair and inclusive workplaces. MARC is about effective gender partnership — which can only be achieved by bringing everyone to the table.

The MARC initiative is about equipping people across genders with the skills to be more effective partners and to lead from a place of personal conviction and understanding. Through creating personal connections and unpacking root causes, MARC participants work hard to understand, identify, and address gender gaps and other critical elements of workplace fairness and inclusion.

So what does a typical MARC journey look like? In short, there is no such thing — each organization has its own point of departure, its own challenges and strengths, and its own unique pathway for implementing different MARC learning programs. However, we have noted some common success factors among organizations that have implemented MARC. Read on to learn about five of these factors, gathered from the lessons learned and best practices of MARC client organizations from multiple industries around the world.
