Executive summary

Many of us work with colleagues from different national, ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. While we get to know our colleagues better, we don’t want to insult or devalue their heritage and history, unintentionally causing a microaggression1 — or worse.2 With global incidents of identity-based hate and discrimination on the rise,3 it takes each of us to intentionally make an effort to create inclusive spaces in our workplaces. By educating ourselves and team members on inclusive language, we can steer clear of stereotypes, slurs, assumptions, and misinformation.
