Assumptions people have about generations can unintentionally create barriers at work. Overcoming these barriers starts with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to see each person as an individual and not a stereotype. Not every person slots squarely into their cohort or displays the same characteristics as everyone else in their generation. People of all generations value recognition for their contributions, meaningful feedback, flexible work schedules, open communication, and opportunities for growth. Since many aspects of business — location, work cultures, and norms — are constantly evolving,1 openness to change is a mindset that will benefit colleagues at every age and stage as they work together. Flip the script to cultivate connection, collaboration, and inclusion across generations.
