Catalyst research has found that inclusive leaders drive employee innovation and team citizenship, both of which have a profound impact on team productivity and product ingenuity. On October 22, 2015, Catalyst led its Inclusive Leadership Workshop, supported by Google Japan, for approximately 30 Catalyst member companies and friends to equip attendees with the skills to create more inclusive workplaces.

The interactive workshop began with brief remarks on the potential of women leaders in Japan, the unconscious bias that gets in the way of fully leveraging diverse talent, and the organizational benefits of encouraging four essential components of inclusive leadership: empowerment, accountability, courage, and humility. In group discussions, participants explored and shared examples of inclusive leadership behaviors and actions they could take as individuals.

After the session, Google Japan provided refreshments, and attendees stayed for networking to develop new personal connections. Attendees have returned to their workplaces with a renewed commitment to inclusion and many simple yet effective actions to practice.

We would like to thank Google for generously supporting this event.
