Julie Friedberg brings 30 years of experience in learning and development, training and facilitation, instructional design, leadership and organizational management, culture change, and executive coaching. As Head of Learning & Development, Julie is responsible for creating and implementing learning programs and processes that will attract, develop, and retain high-performing and highly engaged employees. Julie works across all levels and departments within Catalyst to foster a culture of learning in support of Catalyst’s business priorities and strategic plan. Julie works closely with leaders and employees to identify leadership and functional learning needs and to develop and support core leadership competencies. Julie designs, builds and executes innovative internal learning programs and structures utilizing Catalyst’s research-based content, SMEs and systems, and collaborates with external learning partners to optimize and sustain learning at scale within Catalyst. Julie is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and facilitates organization-wide conversations on difficult topics to encourage employee voice and dialogue.

Prior to launching and leading Catalyst’s new L&D initiative, Julie served as Senior Director, Learning Design & Delivery on the Learning and Advisory Services team, creating and delivering learning solutions for Catalyst Supporters across Catalyst’s content pillars, including MARC, Leading for Equity and Inclusion, and Women and the Future of Work. Julie built out and trained Catalyst’s global external facilitator pool and upskilled internal staff on Catalyst content and facilitation.

Prior to joining Catalyst, Julie coached corporate and non-profit executives and senior leaders in leadership, change management, culture, people development, strategy and communication. She served as Executive Director of School Leadership Development and Founding Executive Director of the Emerging Leaders Program at New Leaders, Inc. where she designed, launched and led an innovative national leadership program to develop a pipeline of transformational school leaders in high-need schools across the United States. She also served as Founder and Executive Director of Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia, an innovative non-profit education organization for underserved children.

Julie received her Ed.M. in Education Administration, Planning and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and her undergraduate degree from Brown University. She is certified by the International Coach Federation and completed her Executive Coach training at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.
