Women in Capital Markets

2000 – 2012

Women in Capital Markets (WCM) commissioned a series of reports that tracked the number of women in the Investment Dealer and Retail Private Client lines of business of the Canadian Capital Markets industry. Studies were conducted in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2008, and 2011. Reports from the series also profile senior women in the industry who share their challenges to advancement along with the personal and professional rewards of working in Capital Markets. Some reports also detail actions organizations can take to advance women in capital markets.

For each report, Catalyst collected data from several of Canada’s top financial institutions. For each line of business, data was gathered across three levels: Managing Director and above, Vice President, and Professional. Interviews and/or focus groups were conducted with women and men from each of the participating financial institutions.
