New York City, N.Y., April 25, 2017—Catalyst announced today the appointment of two new board members: Shelley S. O’Connor, Co-Head, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Chairman, Morgan Stanley Private Bank N.A.; and NV “Tiger” Tyagarajan, President and CEO, Genpact. The global leaders were unanimously elected by current members of the Catalyst Board of Directors.
“I am so pleased to welcome Shelley and Tiger as new board members,” said Deborah Gillis, President and CEO, Catalyst. “Both of these individuals are outstanding leaders who embody the spirit of Catalyst’s mission and goals—bringing a wealth of talent, expertise and energy to the table. We are very fortunate to have them by our side in the fight to advance women in the workplace.”
A member of Morgan Stanley’s Operating Committee, O’Connor has held a succession of senior leadership positions during her more than 30-year career with Morgan Stanley, including serving as Head of Field Management for Wealth Management with responsibility for the firm’s network of approximately 600 branches and 16,000 advisors, and as Chief Executive Officer of the Private Bank. She earned a BA from the University of California, San Diego.
”Advancing women in the workplace is critical to businesses around the globe and especially vital in industries like financial services where we must be able to build deep connections with the increasingly diverse clients we serve,” said Ms. O’Connor. “Catalyst has long been a leader in this effort and it is an honor for me to join its Board and contribute to its important work.”
Tyagarajan is credited as an industry leader who pioneered a new global business model and transformed a division of GE (formerly GE Capital International Services) into Genpact, a global professional services firm focused on delivering digital transformation for its clients with $2.57 billion in annual revenue. He has served in a number of senior leadership roles at Genpact and GE prior to his current appointment in 2011. Tyagarajan has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and an MBA, majoring in finance and marketing, from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He also serves on the Board of the Center for Talent Innovation (CTI) and is one of the founding supporters of the US chapter of the 30% Club.
“Genpact’s commitment to diversity has made our business stronger, since it’s clear that diversity of perspective significantly enhances corporate culture and creates value for our clients,” said Tyagarajan. “I’m honored to join the Board of Catalyst and be part of an organization at the forefront of driving diversity momentum. There’s a lot more work to be done to increase diversity, inclusion, and gender equality at the corporate levels, so I look forward to helping drive this change with Catalyst.”
The Catalyst Board of Directors includes leading executives from top global corporations and professional firms. Peter Voser, Chairman, ABB Ltd., is the Chair.
