Catalyst Names CIBC's Victor G. Dodig Chair of its Canadian Advisory Board

Toronto, ON, September 14, 2017Catalyst announced today the appointment of Victor G. Dodig, President and CEO, CIBC, as Chair of the Catalyst Canada Advisory Board. Dodig has been a member of the Advisory Board for three years, and succeeds Bill Downe, CEO, BMO Financial Group, as Chair.

“We are incredibly pleased to welcome Victor in this new capacity,” said Tanya van Biesen, Executive Director, Catalyst Canada. “He is an outstanding leader whose energy, passion and commitment to advancing women and inclusive workplaces have already been felt deeply within Catalyst and the Canadian business community. He brings a wealth of talent and experience to the table, and we are very fortunate to have him.”

With more than 20 years of business and banking experience, Dodig was named President and CEO, a leading Canadian-based financial institution, in September 2014. In addition to serving on CIBC’s Board of Directors, Dodig serves on the board of the C.D. Howe Institute and ROM Board of Governors. He is a vocal advocate for gender diversity in the workplace and actively supports the advancement of talented women to executive roles and on boards. In addition to his new role as Chair of the Catalyst Canada Advisory Board, he is Chair of the 30% Club Canada.

Earlier this year, Dodig was named a 2017 Catalyst Canada Honours Champion in recognition of his exceptional contributions to accelerating progress for women through workplace inclusion. He will receive his award at the upcoming Catalyst Canada Honours Dinner on Monday, November 6, 2017, in Toronto.
