Mr. Ching, who is based in The Hague, The Netherlands, is Legal Director of Royal Dutch Shell. A member of the Executive Board, he leads the Legal Function for the Shell group.
Mr. Ching graduated with a law degree from the University of Southampton in England and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales. He joined Shell in Australia in 1988 and initially worked in Resources, buying and selling coal and gold mines and advising on mining operational issues. In 1992, he moved to Hong Kong to work on the Nanhai Petrochemicals Project in China, among other projects. Mr. Ching then moved to London, where he first worked on Chemical divestments. In 2004, he moved to Singapore as Associate General Counsel for Shell’s Asia-Pacific Gas & Power business, becoming Head of Legal of Shell Singapore in 2008and then becoming General counsel for Shell’s Projects & Technology business. He has been Royal Dutch Shell’s Legal Director since 1st February 2014.Mr. Ching was born in Malaysia and is married with two daughters.
