The American Society of News Editors 2011 newsroom employment census found that women made up 36.9% of the 41,608 total positions.2

- In 2007, of the 203 issues of U.S. news magazines, Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, Newsweek and Time, women were the full photo subject on:
- 22 covers of news magazines;5
- had 65 full photo cover story bylines; 6
- and 8 full photo cover credits.7
- In 2006, of a total 200 issues, women had:
- 70 full photo cover story bylines; 8
- and 8 full photo cover credits. 9
