Types of Research & Knowledge
Catalyst publishes several types of research and knowledge. We invite you to browse by type. Materials designated Metrics quantify women's experiences in business. Our work falls into three practice areas.
Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Practices
Learn how organizations, including those whose initiatives have won the Catalyst Award, have tackled diversity and inclusion challenges. These documents outline programs undertaken by organizations to address specific issues facing their businesses.
Pyramids
Catalyst's hallmark Pyramids, also produced by the Information Center, provide a statistical snapshot of women's place in business, including specific industries.
Quick Takes
These statistics-based overviews, created by Catalyst's Information Center, cover numerous topics, including women in leadership, women of color, work-life balance, working mothers, women in Canada, LGBT women, disabled workers, earnings and income, and women in various fields, such as law, government, and high technology.
Research Reports
Our reports, written by our world-class researchers, examine women in business, the factors that contribute to their progress, and the barriers that hinder their advancement. Based on rigorous methodologies, including surveys and in-depth interviews with executive women and men, they detail the number of women in top leadership positions, quantify the effects of barriers such as gender stereotyping, build the business case for advancing women, benchmark progress at Catalyst member organizations, and propose solutions for improving workplace diversity and inclusion.
Tools
These guidebooks help organizations measure the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion efforts and provide methods for tracking results. They are available only to visitors associated with Catalyst member organizations.
