General Accounting Assistant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Director, Finance
Responsibilities
The General Accounting Assistant helps the Finance department create timely and accurate financial statements. He or she manages cash applications, making sure all cash receipts are applied properly. He or she is also responsible for maintaining the accounts receivable aging for members, receiving incoming member payments, entering cash receipts, and completing bank deposits.
Functions
- Assist with month-end closing.
- Prepare and update the schedule of corporate financial interactions.
- Maintain organization’s list of project and long distance phone codes.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all organizational accounts.
- Assist CFO in the preparation of the organizational budget.
- Prepare year-end schedules for, and interface, with the external auditors.
- Organize all contracts and agreements.
- Track all facets of Major Gift Campaign.
- Monitor accounting transactions in India.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Execute special projects as required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of U.S. and foreign subsidiary financial accounting standards, taxes and other organizational compliance requirements.
- Personal computer literacy in a network environment with a Windows base; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications & MAS 90
- Excellent organizational skills, a meticulous eye for detail and good proofreading skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work well across departments.
- Ability to adapt to frequently shifting priorities.
- Strong customer service skills.

Education and Experience Requirements
The position requires a B.B.A. /B.S in Accounting or Finance and at least one or more years of relevant experience.
