Changing workplaces. Changing lives.

The Timeline of the 50 years of Catalyst is the result of the efforts of many on the Catalyst staff. Ilene H. Lang, Catalyst President & Chief Executive Officer, provided  leadership and support. Deborah M. Soon, Vice President, Marketing & Executive Leadership Initiatives, contributed resources and assistance.

Liz Roman Gallese, Vice President & Publisher (2006-2010), conceptualized the project, led its creation, conducted most of the interviews, found several documents, and provided innumerable recommendations for its organization, writing, editing, and integrity as an online documentary. Joy Ohm, Senior Editor, and Helen Atkinson, Consulting Editor, researched, wrote, and inputted the textual material. Sonia Nikolic, Senior Designer, found many of the visual artifacts; scanned, formatted, and inputted all of the visual, audio, and video pieces; and designed the artwork for the front page. Edmund P. Gallese provided research services.

The Catalyst Information Center, as well as the History and Future Committees, provided materials and support.

Many people generously gave us their time in interviews and secured documents for us to exhibit. We would like to thank them all, in alphabetical order: Lucy Wilson Benson; John H. Bryan; Thomas J. Engibous; Katherine Giscombe, Ph.D.; Pamela W. Laird, Ph.D.; Nancy L. Lane; Ilene H. Lang; Marilyn Machlowitz, Ph.D.; Reuben Mark; Mary C. Mattis, Ph.D.; Debra Oppenheim; Emma Sabin; Emily Schwartz; James Schwartz; Tony Schwartz; James S. Turley; Sheila Wellington; and Susan M. Yohn, Ph.D.

In particular, Susan M. Yohn, Professor of History at Hofstra University, kindly gave us an immeasurable head start to our research by speaking with us on several occasions about her findings on Catalyst’s history and by offering valuable feedback throughout the course of the project.

The Timeline was designed and programmed by iFactory.

Finally, Catalyst could not have produced the Timeline without the generous grant from the E. L. Wiegand Foundation, for which we are appreciative and thankful.
