Expertise | Biography
Christine Silva directs and supports Canadian and global research projects focused on gender and diversity issues. She played a lead role in the groundbreaking study Career Advancement in Corporate Canada: A Focus on Visible Minorities ~ Survey Findings and directed and co-authored the qualitative report in that series that explored critical relationships. In addition, she was lead author of Catalyst’s first research report on LGBT inclusion, Building LGBT-Inclusive Workplaces: Engaging Organizations and Individuals in Change, and is a co-author of Catalyst’s longitudinal study of high-potential employees. Ms. Silva also leads Catalyst Member Benchmarking, which allows members to track gender and racial/ethnic diversity by level and global region, as well as come together to share ideas, challenges, and strategies on diversity and inclusion.
Ms. Silva works closely with Canadian member companies to leverage Catalyst research in their diversity and inclusion initiatives. Previous Advisory Services engagements have included surveying employees, conducting focus groups and interviews, analyzing company-level data, benchmarking organizations against their industry, and highlighting points of success as well as opportunities for change.
Ms. Silva received a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto, a Master of Science in Organizational Behaviour from Queen’s University, and has completed doctoral coursework in Organizational Behaviour at Queen’s University. She earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Employment Relations at the University of Toronto.
