Leading from the Top, Berlin

Caroline Pickard, Catalyst Europe Ambassador to the Nordic Region, will be speaking at the second annual Pan-European conference about advancing the careers of lesbians, bisexual and transgender women in business taking place on November 9 in Amsterdam. Once a year, Catalyst staff from across the globe—India, Europe, Canada, and beyond—fly into New York for a day of collaboration and fun. Our most recent Values Day took place on a brilliantly sunny day in early September, and featured an Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt across the Financial District. Labour Day: Time for a Change
Most of us see Labour Day as a final taste of summer before we get back to the routines of September. But as Deborah Gillis wrote in CanCon, it’s also a time to recognize the efforts of labor to achieve fairness and safety in our workplaces, and a time to recognize the contribution of the women and men who work in every industry and sector in the country. Yet inequity persists in Canadian workplaces—we haven’t achieved equal pay for women, and not everyone is given an equal opportunity to receive the promotions that will maximize her or his full talent and ability.
