C What's Happening
Celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall riots of June 1969, which are commonly acknowledged as the beginning of the U.S. gay rights movement. Organizations and D&I professionals are encouraged to download Catalyst's report, Building LGBT-Inclusive Workplaces: Engaging Organizations and Individuals in Change, and its corresponding tool, which describe the workplace experiences of LGBT employees and offer a 'how-to' for the development of programs and practices that leverage diversity, foster inclusion, and increase awareness, accountability, and action.

As We C It
Check the Chart
This month in Catalyzing Ilene got real with graduates, telling them the truth about the wage inequity that awaits them, rather than peppering them with standard inspirational fare. "The fact is that a level playing field does not exist for women in the business world."
Deborah Gillis mused on the recent Canadian elections in CanCon, "With 407 women out of 1,587 candidates, this election saw the highest proportion ever of women candidates. And with the election of 76 women, this 41st Parliament will comprise a record 25 percent women. While I'm happy that the proportion of woman MPs continues to increase, I have to point out that we're only half way there. When women make up 50 percent of Parliament, as we do the population—that will be the day to celebrate."
To Quota or Not to Quota, That is the Question
As quotas are debated, if not implemented, by a growing number of European countries, the notion of closing the gender gap by law can no longer be considered a Nordic phenomenon. Whether organizations are affected by legislation or just watching and waiting, interest is growing. Read more in Catalyst Europe's CORE.
