Well stated! That feeling of being overwhelmed often paralyzes us - we do nothing - then we feel guilty and even more helpful. Sometimes, taking just a "small" action leads to big results. We have to start somewhere, one day you're just recycling, the next you can be reducing your overall carbon footprint. Today you advocate for a colleague, tomorrow they shine and it reflects back on you!

Wow! An inspirational challenge and call-to-action, which I really hope gets picked up. I recall in a previous role, I looked to senior managers in the firm to offer me more guidance and support as I was starting flourish in organization. However, despite my energy and initiative, I was not getting much engagement. Finally, in a performance review, when asked about what some of my key challenges were, I addressed the issue of senior staff not doing enough to mentor younger staff. The response was: "Did you ask? Executives aren't just sitting around waiting to pounce on proteges - why don't you spark the relationship?" While, that was an eye-opener, putting the ball in my court was difficult - I didn't feel I had the "right" to approach the Executives. But...at some point my need and ambition overcame my inhibition and I went for it! Great learning experience.

As a Canadian, I will be celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend (happy holidays to fellow Canucks!), and I have to say how thankful I am for all the strides that have been made by organizations like Catalyst, my female predecessors in business/industry and the women mentors and models (role, not fashion) that I look up to today. It makes my professional life exciting and full of possibilities! To this day, I still have to call out my mother, who is my greatest role model, both as a person and professional (she is a visual artist and entrepreneur).

Sounds like a great event with some great insights. Building a more inclusive and diverse Ontario means covering a lot of 'untouched' ground, like ability/ disability. Great job!

WiN-Canada is thrilled to have Colleen take on the role of President. Colleen has been a champion for women’s advancement both within OPG and in the community. She will be a great advocate for women working in the industry and has the experience and dedication to help secure WiN's continued success in the future.

I am not in favor of this. Women should have equal rights as men, but they cannot (and should not) expect to perform just like men, either in business or sports. Men read maps better, women read people better. We need to combine our strengths to become stronger.

Also, requiring that half the goals be scored by women would only make the capable men players apathetic - why should they try hard to score if it isn't going to count? I can't think of a better way to de-incentivize them.

And let's remember that life isn't equal or fair. The goal is to create an equal playing field, but we shouldn't handicap the play.
